Crossconnect Engineering

Crossconnect builds datacenters featuring the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) platform.

UCS unites compute, network, storage access, and virtualization into a cohesive system designed to reduce the total cost of ownership and increase business agility.

The system ingregrates a low-latency 10 Gigabit Ethernet unified network fabric with enterprise class, x86 architecture servers. The system is an integrated, scalable, multi-chassis platform in which all resources participate in a unified management domain.

In addition, the Nexus 9000 series switches bring the option of Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Cisco's SDN solution, to the overall datacenter picture. ACI creates a policy-based system that allows rapid provisioning and management across a large network infrastructure, built around the application itself, bringing the needs of the application and development teams more in line with that of the network team. In 2016, Crossconnect became one of the few partners in the state of Colorado to obtain the Cisco ACI Advanced Technology Provider (ATP) designation, allowing it to sell and service the ACI platform.

Crossconnect, like many vendors, sells and supports traditional FC and FCoE storage. However, hyperconvergence, a type of software-defined storage, is now also available directly from Cisco. Cisco's offering is called Hyperflex, and allows storage resources to be used across multiple hardware chassis as a single virtual SAN. This allows for different scaling models than a traditional SAN, and can ease the cost barrier-to-entry associated with SANs.
